Help the Church Plan Ahead… |

The Stewardship Committee is asking that anyone who did not turn in a pledge card to please turn one in. As the church moves forward, people must understand the importance of the church (not individuals) knowing future pledges. The church council uses this information to set the budget for the next year. Not having an accurate pledge count greatly affects the amount budgeted to the ministries of our church. Also, as Epiphany searches for a new minister, the financial strength of our church will play an important role in finding the most qualified pastor to fit our needs. A large concern for people is the confidentiality of their pledges. At Epiphany, there is only one person who knows individual pledges. That person is Audrey Maznaritz. She is the treasurer of our church, and all individual pledges are kept in her confidence. Whether you plan to pledge time, talent, money, or all three, it is important that everyone return a card to ensure the continued strength of our church. Even if you’re financial pledge is zero or very modest, it is still important to return the pledge card. For those who returned a card in 2006 but not in 2007, someone from the Stewardship Committee will be contacting you. This contact is solely to gather an accurate estimate of our pledges for budgeting purposes. Any questions can be directed to Laura Brix, l.brix.att.net, 773.935.3572; Mike Lohman,

Make a difference in the life of a senior |
Wednesday, 22 November 2006 |
St. Pauls House and Health Care Center, a UCC facility that cares and supports the aged and other convalescent persons, offers opportunities to make a difference in the life of one or many. Consider becoming a volunteer. Volunteers bring a dimension of care to the elderly and touch the lives of residents in many ways. Through regular visits, shopping trips, and on occasion, a sympathetic ear, they add to the quality of life at St. Pauls in a way that few can. In return, volunteers find they have a new circle of friends. They form personal, rewarding relationships with our residents and staff. In fact, volunteers often say they get more from the experience than they ever expected. For more information, contact Rev. Matthew J. Smucker, director of Pastoral Services and Volunteers, at 773-478-4222, ext. 346 or
