Hello all,
As you may know, the Joplin area has been devastated by the worst single tornado in recorded history. What you may not know is that I grew up in the Joplin. I'm lucky that my family is safe and did not sustain damage. I thank God that my grandmother wasn't shopping at her favorite grocery store or at her Wal-Mart that evening. However, many of my friends and classmates were not so lucky. Several of them have lost everything including loved ones.

Currently, the infrastructure of Joplin is not equipped to handle the large amount of donations coming in. While money to the Red Cross is always appreciated, I've been in touch with some of my friends and am sending things directly to families I know who are in need.

Every Easter we decorate the sanctuary with celebratory lilies and tulips that you may take home after Worship. Please donate directly to the International Disaster Fund to enable the UCC
to respond to the Japan Earthquake crisis. Donations can be made online by

In light of the recent events in Japan, the earthquake and tsunami, the
Sunday School will be hosting a bake sale on Sunday March 27TH during coffee
hour. Please join in and give as the spirit moves you. All funds will be donated to
the UCC.
