Below is a list of activities that Epiphany UCC currently offers. You are welcome to join as many as you like! These groups are very flexible regarding time commitments as we recognize and respect the fact that people are busy. Please contact Pastor Matt or the contacts listed below for information on meeting times and activities. Thank you for your interest God Bless You!

Altar Guild

This committee is responsible for the upkeep of the altar and helps prepare for our monthly communion services.

Amistad Committee

Working toward developing a spirituality and practice of justice in our community. Sponsors and organizes social justice projects. Contact Ross Hyman or Sara Wohlleb

Building Committee

This committee assesses the need for any repairs or construction to the church and parsonage and coordinates these activities with contractors. See Greg Mooney

Chancel Choir/Music

Open to all members and friends of the church. The choir practices at 9:15 a.m. on Sunday mornings and sings every Sunday from September through June. Contact Joe Burt, Music Director

Christian Education

As we continue to grow the importance of our Christian Education program will only increase. This committee helps develop and teach our Sunday school curriculum. In the future we will be incorporating children into more aspects of our worship life and expanding our education programs for people of all ages., Contact Gloria Heatley Director

Church Council

The Council is the leading governing board of our church. Makes decisions regarding our budget, our building, our programs, our staff, etc.

Coffee Hour

Hosts make coffee and bring snack foods and juice for fellowship after Sunday worship. See sign-up sheet in the narthex. See Kathy Engert

Common Pantry

Chicago's oldest continually operating food pantry provides individuals and families with food and personal care items. Volunteers are needed for all kinds of tasks--working with clients, packing up food or guiding people through the process of choosing items. Other volunteers help put away the large weekly food pickups from the Chicago Food Depository; still others work in the office, or on fundraising, or the newsletter. Vince Amlin, Director

(In the)Company of Women

In the Company of Women is the Epiphany Women's Group. We meet monthly to socialize, learn, think and provide service to the world. This group helps build community within the women of the church in a laughter-filled environment. Contact Barbara Bolsen

Evangelism

The Evangelism helps Epiphany spread the Good News of God's Love by inviting friends and neighbors to join us in worship at this wonderful, inclusive church! Roger Wright, Chair

Greeting / Ushering

Are you an extrovert? Do you like hosting and welcoming people? Then this group is for you! We prepare the sanctuary for Sunday morning worship and welcome people to church, with a special focus on guests and first-time visitors. contact Erwin Engert

mens group

The Men’s Group is open to everyone (provided they are male). It includes single, married, long-time members, first time visitors, old, young, gay, straight, etc. It’s as diverse as the greater Epiphany community.

welcome meal

Every Wednesday evening volunteers serve a meal to the needy in our Fellowship Hall. This meal is made possible by First Slice. To volunteer on Wednesdays, Contact Kathy Engert

Wider Church

The Women's Guild

The Epiphany Women's Guild has been meeting for more than 50 years! We meet once a month for conversation, prayer, lunch and service projects in the Fellowship Hall. Susan Klosa, President

Worship/Prayer committee

Works with the Pastor to evaluate and plan worship services. Help choose hymns, write the liturgy, plan holiday services, lead worship, present children’s sermons, read scripture etc. In the past some of our members have preached on Sunday.
